Did you know that Bangladesh is two thirds the size of Victoria and has over 140 million people?

Illiteracy levels in Bangladesh are reported to be over 55% with levels of over 75% for women. Consequently, there is a great need and desire for schools.

All proceeds from the My Favourite Travel Photo exhibition are donated to Co-Operation In Development (CO-ID); a registered Australian charity, building and operating schools on Bhola Island in southern Bangladesh.

CO-ID was founded in 1991 by Fred Hyde after he spent time in Bangladesh working for an orphanage. Fred's experiences lead him to believe that education was essential to improve the standard of living for the Bangladeshi people and that the people themselves should direct their own development.

CO-ID has helped educate more than 50 000 children in 31 local schools. To build a school on Bhola Island costs $6 500.

CO-ID's Australian Registered Charity Number is: CH1324.
